The place I was working for a second job last year had the brilliant idea of having the IT department organize a company function because IT people are well known as being social, outgoing and extroverted. **cough** Sometime businesses just don’t stop and think about what they’re doing and who they are asking to do what.

I like odd schedules to be honest, less traffic.

odd schedules are fine... 8 hours exactly between one shift and the next your pulling is a shit

The missus has had that happen a few times. Get told to pull a double and then show up for the morning shift. It’s rough.

I wish I could do that. I’m working in an non air conditioned warehouse with a broken swamp cooler over the summer. Hit 49C according to wunderground yesterday. Lotta sweat. Although it only dropped to 35C last night, so it might not make that much of a difference.

Our union rule is 8 hours between, which does suck because you are driving and showering in that 8 hours! But I work on shows and the show has to open so we often do some crazy stuff installing a show. I’ve been at the showsite for two days non stop, I did sleep a little on my breaks in the car in the parking garage. But we do go on double time and stay on it when it gets ugly. But no traffic is good.

Less traffic is probably the best part
. It’s also nice to be able to stop by the bank (or other businesses that are only open during bank hours).

Thanks for the heads up! This is just a part time gig over the summer. I’m a teacher the rest of the year. I was the production/environmental resource manager at a print/envelope/mail shop for the last eight years while also teaching, so this is some mindless shit for me, but hey, it pays and is flexible.
